Spring is nearby and we preparing for a whole new fashion season. One of our favorite upcoming trends is the canvas shoe trend. Everyone wears them and they will absolutely be my priority for this spring.
I choose canvas shoes as my shoe trend for I always view them as fashion items which are the perfect combination of youthful features, fashion concepts and leisure spirits. And also canvas sneakers deliver comfy design and unintentional elegance.
Sneakers with various style, simple or complex, white or colored, has undergone a transformation from its function in the beginning as a sports shoe. Now, people can wear sneakers for any purpose.
It’s so simple and obvious that we can’t help but jump aboard this retake on the classic, simple, and neutral fabric.
This earth-friendly textile has been waxed, dyed, and embellished for our fashionable pleasure. You can take the natural route and opt for lighter colors, or dare to try it with a fabulous faux finish — some even look like leather!

A few weeks ago I was sent a pair of these new canvas shoes from Lugz for review. I’ve never reviewed clothing before, let alone footwear, but they looked pretty cool so I decided to try them out.

The pair I got were in the “Sparks” style, which basically is a casual canvas sneaker. Lugz calls it a “Moc toe design”  but to me they look like a low-cut summertime version of Clarks’ Desert Boots. You can get them in eight different color combinations, but I got dark tan/white which looks good with jeans (and I’m hoping shorts when the weather gets better).
After wearing them for a while, the only issue I had with them really is that they are about a half-size too big. It wasn’t that big of a deal for me, but there was a little more room in the toe than I normally would have wanted. (Actually, the Lugz website now suggests ordering a 1/2 size smaller than normal, so I guess my pair wasn’t an aberration). Being decidedly casual, there isn’t a lot of support in the insole so I probably wouldn’t wear them if I was planning on walking any long distances or being on my feet for a long time. But for shoes to kick around during the summertime in, they seem great.

UK brand, Pointer has really stepped up to the plate with this new Spring 2010 collection of shoes. The new Pointer Pluckrose boot uses a fantastic technique of stiffened and waxed coated canvas for the uppers and finishes off the Duck boot style shoe with a lightweight yet sturdy sole unit. Attention to stitching and building detail is obvious throughout and swap the full-grain leathers and lugged soles of April showers for waxed canvas and lightweight EVA. The shoes are  handmade in Portugal and coming in both Thyme or Brick now at Urban Industry.
